So Hichikarah had a very interesting history lesson she wanted me to write here regarding this story. This is technically not a Kochikame chapter, this was a completely unrelated oneshot. Akimoto originally published Kochikame under the pen name "Tatsuhika Yamado", which was in honor of a gag mangaka he looked up to. However the gag mangaka complained to Akimoto that he was getting lots of fan mail directed towards Akimoto because audiences confused their names, which ultimately inspired Akimoto to finally use his real name.
This was published in Weekly Shonen Jump as a completely self-contained oneshot, but was included in Kochikame volume 1 because there was no real place for it to go otherwise. Due to this not being part of Kochikame, we contemplated skipping it entirely. Though Hichi insisted we do it as to fully complete all of the content featured in Kochikame volume 1. So, here we are.
The current plan right now is to add back in some of the cultural references that were removed from chapter 3, as well as other minor changes. Then we'll release volume 1 as CBZ and upload the updated pages to Cubari. We have one more Kochikame thing we want to get done before we take a break form it. I hope you all look forward to what we have next for Akimoto's work.
